At a Glance

Virtual healthcare demonstrates improved outcomes and diminishes geographical barriers to care as evidenced by studies focusing on specific services.

The successful implementation of virtual healthcare is not trivial; it demands a comprehensive solution, especially when doctors are working remotely. Our holistic approach considers training and onboarding, scheduling, patient administration, virtual conferencing, and ensures all these aspects are managed in a secure and compliant manner. This comprehensive solution enables healthcare providers to deliver effective, secure, and compliant services.

The Challenge

Building a comprehensive solution to meet the diverse needs of patients, doctors, dietitians, and administrators is a substantial challenge. The platform faced a tight deadline and needed to provide specialty training to doctors and dietitians entirely online, with asynchronous learning modules. It required enabling both employees and contractors to manage their schedules, provide patients with user-friendly interfaces to manage appointments, provide call guides and resources to administrators and health care professionals, handle billing to multiple payors, integrate with several other systems, allowing flexible reporting, and feature a professional marketing website.

In addition to complexity, the second challenge is dealing with the high-security requirements of handling patient identifiable information (PII). As an accessible patient service application, it must rank high on ease of use, and as a healthcare application, it must be highly secure. While managing sophisticated security protocols aligns with our expertise, it is crucial to acknowledge that stringent security measures can sometimes compromise app usability. In certain environments lower app usability may be acceptable for higher security, but not when the platform is used for virtual care.

The Solution

Webility streamlined the development process and reduced the project's risk by:

1

Leveraging our robust selection of pre-built healthcare and e-learning modules and APIs.

2

Utilizing best-in-class third party integrations, such as Microsoft Teams for video conferencing.

3

Architecting a third-party software platform using our in-house, highly skilled software development team.

Webility employed their Active Risk Management approach to continually reassess the project and keep it on track. The project was successfully completed in time for the very well received launch of the Medical Weight Management System in March 2023.

The Benefits

  • Fully virtual platform
  • Built-in asynchronous eLearning for HCPs
  • Scheduling of employees and contractors
  • Highly rated marketing website
  • Meets all federal & provincial privacy and security requirements

Above the Bottom Line

Building successful healthcare software platforms involves more than technical expertise. It requires a delicate balance of addressing the needs of patients, providers, and administrators, seamless integration with EHR and billing systems, effective coordination with diverse groups, and the employment of specialized technical talent.

Only time and experience can bring these crucial qualities together. With 16 years of expertise in constructing numerous healthcare systems, Webility was uniquely equipped to tackle this project. The result was a product that the Medical Weight Management Centre of Canada now considers a major competitive advantage.
